Antique Temple Pillar in New Moroxico

Dallas, Texas

Photographer by Day...

I didn’t get very far with my initial sketches of New Moroxico before it became clear that in order to achieve the AUTHENTICITY I was after, I was going to need to gather up many of the important architectural pieces first, then come back and design the house around them.

My photography expeditions to places like AFRICA, THAILAND, and even NEPAL suddenly had a secondary agenda, and I would spend all of my spare time trying to source the perfect antiques and architectural elements for the house.

The problem with trying to casually dabble in the export of large and heavy architectural pieces is that I had no infrastructure in place to handle the logistics.

It’s one thing to fill a whole shipping container with items for your antique store, but quite another to try and convince someone to ship a single pillar for a single project across the globe, all because it tickled your fancy while passing through Jordan.

So, for anything bigger than a suitcase, I came to accept that my travels abroad were more for GATHERING INSPIRATION only, and that the coordination and procurement of ginormous items was best handled by working with local antiquity dealers.

I feel compelled to specifically mention my newfound friendship with the folks at AOI HOME, because without their help, many of the standout pieces in New Moroxico would have never been possible.
